Material things don’t last.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. ~ Colossians 3:2

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. ~ Romans 8:36

The things we hold closest to us will pass away. Money. House. Cars. It will all be gone on the Kingdom of Heaven, but happyness and love and patience will never leave us.

And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him. ~ Matthew 4:18-20

Material things will only be a distraction in our walk with God, no matter how much we deny it… it’s true for us all. God has given us so much… more than 50% of the world’s population will never look at a computer screen. And if you are reading this: you are very blessed.

But let us not take our belongings and be selfish.

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” ~ Matthew 19:20-22

We are called to be GIVERS.

But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind. ~ Luke 14:12-14

It may be difficult, but the reward is great in heaven.

If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:2-4

Giving for no reason is useless. Giving out of care and love is more powerful than the evils of the world.

But give what is inside the dish to the poor, and everything will be clean for you. ~ Luke 11:40-42

God rewards those who give out of love.

So I challenge you to give a little more than you normally would this week. Go out of your comfort zones and do what God has called us to do.
